@panman Thank you for the hint on what the issues is. it looks like the culprit is the latest version of openssl. what I did was download openssl 3.2.1 and put the content under
/opt/openssl_321
, then edited the script to includeenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/openssl_321/lib <executable>
. This works without having to kill my wifi. hopefully softmaker will fix this in the next build.panman commented on 2024-05-08 17:47 (UTC)
I looked at the entire thread here: https://forum.softmaker.de/viewtopic.php?p=151747 I did follow what the people report there. If I have access to the internet (I have only a Wi-Fi), a blank window shows for a short moment, then disappears. If I turn off the Wi-Fi and try again, a blank window shows up with error dialog on top. If I cancel it, the application loads normally with the document I want. Turning on the Wi-Fi after that is OK, the window stays and the application is fully functional. Looking what the people reported and the logs they provided in the German forum makes me think it is a problem with the recent update of the openssl package. My troubles with this started on Monday morning when I updated my system which included openssl. Will wait for the mainstream update, until then - Wi-Fi on and off limbo... huh...

@WorMzy https://forum.softmaker.de/viewtopic.php?p=151747#p151747 there SuperTech is saying: We are able to reproduce the issue and have forwarded all details to our development team.

I am not sure what happened for me, because I don't see that my latest yay update changed my package version, but all I know is that after a general system update today my textmaker and planmaker are working again. I did not downgrade the package, just did another system update.
Update 5-7-24 - I have several machines similarly configured. I just updated a similarly configured laptop and the problem did not go away, so my experience that a general update helped one machine did not carry over to others.

Thanks for reporting, unfortunately I don't have a way of reproducing this. I've bumped the pkgver up to 1211 (in case the vague "Debian 11" fixes makes any difference), and rolled in the .desktop file fixes requested by sa7dse. If the problem persists, then I'm afraid the options are either 1) waiting on upstream to fix it, or 2) downgrading your system to the point where the suite last worked (e.g. using the Arch Linux Archive)

adding this one as off related issue is surely upstream i think? https://forum.softmaker.de/viewtopic.php?f=441&t=35532&p=151743#p151743

Confirmed here too. I note that another of my programs - Onboard - has simultaneously started crashing, and they are pointing to an issue after a Python upgrade - https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/onboard/-/issues/2

I can also confirm the error

Probably yeah, funny too, I installed SoftMaker Office 2024 on my laptop and it was stable until after I plugged in the license code, then it crashed.
