I have the same error as plant. What software does makepkg use to extract zip files ? Perhaps there is some workaround such that the PKGBUILD will work on all file systems.
This is on zfs:
I can extract the archive just fine with unzip even on zfs.
I can also confirm this indeed has something to do with the target filesystem; running makepkg when the folder with the PKGBUILD is on a btrfs partition works just fine!

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure this issue was happening because my home folder is on an NTFS partition. It might be possible to prevent this by only extracting the required files (the .sf2 and readme).

Can't reproduce in a clean chroot. Extraction goes through fine.

Extracting the original archive and re-zipping it myself fixes it, and doesn't seem to prevent the installation from working (it only needs the .sf2 and the "Read Me.txt", and all of the problematic files are in the Documentation folder.

I can't get this package to install; from the output, it seems like there's a couple of filenames in the documentation/examples that bsdtar is refusing to extract and erroring about
