The spacenavd.service file here doesn't work for me. It throws: spacenavd[2027]: failed to open X11 display ":0.0" when the service attempts to start, then the daemon does seemingly nothing. A hacky workaround for this is to sudo cp /run/user/1000/gdm/Xauthority /root/.Xauthority where 1000 is your UID. That allows the root user (and thus the service) to talk to the X server so that the daemon works.

The spnavd_ctl shell script uses xdpyinfo and "spnavd_ctl x11 start" will fail if xdpyinfo is not installed. Can you add a dependency on xdpyinfo?

new package version 0.5-2: * removed gcc, make from makedepends as pointed out by bchretien * added systemd service file which i shamelessly copied from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/3D_Mouse

You should consider removing gcc and make from makedepends.

Unfortunately my time is very scarce, so you have 2 options to choose from: 1. Contact the spacenavd developer and ask them to consider doing a new release. Then I can update this package accordingly. 2. Start learning how to write an AUR package (which is quite easy to do actually, 'man PKGBUILD' is a starting point). You might have fun doing it and after that might be able to write more AUR packages you need. Which would be a win-win situation for everyone.

There seems to have been a lot of changes made in the svn repository for spacenav since the last release. It would nice if there could be a spacenavd-svn package in addition to this. I have never made an AUR package before, though.
