Hi, new SteamTinkerLaunch maintainer here :-) Just left a comment on the steamtinkerlaunch-git package, wanted to give a heads up for some of the upcoming changes in the next release:

  • CheatEngine and GameConqueror have been removed, so if you could remove the mention of those from the optional dependencies when the next release is out that would be great!
  • innoextract is, as far as I can see, no longer used anywhere in the current git (outside of on Steam Deck, where innoextract is fetched and managed by STL), so once the next release rolls around that can be taken out as well

None of these changes are urgent, I just wanted to give a heads up on these changes in preparation for the next release (no firm ETA yet, so just a courtesy heads up).

In case I forgot anything or forget to follow up with any extra changes, the wiki's changelog page has a comprehensive list of changes in the current git and I try to update it with every commit. Feel free to take a look to make sure I didn't miss anything relevant to the packaging: https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Changelog#changes-in-latest-master

Thanks!

@frostwork: I'd argue that depending on a tiny AUR package is a lot cleaner than installing 4MBs worth of vim to get the 20KB xxd binary.

ah nice, thanks for the hint @yochananmarqos

yochananmarqos commented on 2021-10-28 14:00 (UTC)

@frostwork: Both vim and xxd-standalone provide xxd, so just change the dependency to xxd and users can choose.

@Popkornium18. If it was an official package, I'd change that at once (didn't even know the AUR package exists). But I prefer to depend on as few as possible AUR packages as possible, so I'll stick with vim for now.

Popkornium18 commented on 2021-10-28 13:53 (UTC)

Could this depend on xxd-standalone instead of vim?

@yochananmarqos, thanks for clarification. (little bit awkward, that I didn't think of that in my previous reply cough)

@fsyy: mangohud-git needs to both provide and conflict with mangohud. It's missing the provides() array.
