This ended up moving to an appimage, so going to just abandon and mark this out of date. Feel free to pick it up and update if you'd like for some reason.

I'm not familiar, basically at all, with node - but I did some clean-up to separate the build (and remove it from the package) from what you need to run based on the instructions in the source repo.

If it doesn't work or I'm missing something please let me know - this works fantastic as long as you don't full screen your apps (as the spec doesn't allow things to write over full-screen apps in Linux, as I understand it). I do Windowed mode and disable decorations and it plays the same for me and I can read chat :)
