@darkside actually I'm wrong. The surfshark-release package contains the setup of the debian repository and signature file, which is used to install/update the cli and gui clients on debian/ubuntu.

@darkside I looked at the changelog and this package does seem to be newer than the one currently in use, so I'll update the package. Thanks for pointing this out!

In: https://ocean.surfshark.com/debian/pool/main/s/
there are two versions
surfshark-release/ 01-Feb-2023 12:25
surfshark-vpn/ 14-Apr-2022 15:46
Wouldn't be better to change from -vpn to -release? I'm not sure but -relese is cli too The link is from: https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017418334-How-to-set-up-Surfshark-VPN-on-Linux- so official setup guide for legacy cli client.

@carlosala suggest you rename your release as surfshark-vpn-CLI Those of us looking for a GUI will confuse your release
carlosala commented on 2023-03-23 12:48 (UTC)
@TheOnly that's the GUI package, this one is for the CLI. There's no GUI package for Surfshark at the moment. The CLI it's updated to its latest version :)

The developer needs to update their source URL to https://ocean.surfshark.com/debian/pool/main/s/surfshark/ SurfShark updated the path over a year ago. surfshark_1.3.0-1616_amd64.deb was released 10-Mar-2023 10:34 for example.

Apparently a .deb file is downloaded here too. Only that no GUI is included and you have to connect via the console. What else is the difference to the GUI variant? Is the package also malicious according to the forum debate?
