Hey guys, sorry for not really maintaining this package. Synergy 2 is never going to become a real product, this version is not supported anymore. Although you can of course still use it if you have the license and everything works for you. This will be the last update I will do to this package, as it is the last update.

From unofficial sources I have heard that everyone who owns a valid synergy2 license will get a valid license for the next major release.

Hey galvez_65,

with this package that issue should be fixed, one of the symless people contacted me about this issue(I asked them to) saying that someone using this package is having the X server issue, is this you?

and can you give me the contents of the service file? (cat /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/synergy.service)

and your display variable? (echo $DISPLAY)??

it is indeed a permission-ish issue, but should be avoidable.

and jtyr, ill do that next version, 2.0.9, coming Wednesday(that's my latest intel, might be pushed back bc of last-minute issues ofc).

Hi Jaap,

Thank you for reaching out. No issues with the service file per-say, it's really an issue with synergy. So they tie into X but it looks like systemd doesn't have permission to interact with X. I'm not sure I fully understand it. If I start synergy with the service it fails, if I do sudo synergy-service from the command line it works. I read someplace that Ubuntu is having the same issues, but I've not verified that. I'll probably do a virtualbox or boxes ubntu VM over the weekend just to see if they are having the same issue.

The systemd script should be part of the ebuild repo repo and not downloaded from GitHub.

hey galvez_65, did you have any trouble with the service file from this package?

the goal of this package is to bing synergy2 to arch linux not modify anything, but if this package should work fine and if there are any problems with this package feel free to post them here. (thanks for the installation error btw)

Eriner, I appreciate that you post your service on here, but as stated above I don't want to change anything, anyone is allowed to apply those patches and if there are any problems with the current service that are fixed by your service I will happily use yours.

I added the User and Group to the service as suggested by Eriner and when I try to start the service synergy fails with a core dump. Eriner are you running the service as root or as a user?

Eriner commented on 2018-03-29 02:01 (UTC)

For those of you having trouble, see my personal revisions to the service here: https://gist.github.com/Eriner/981e9f291495ca2b22b74a4a9e60cc62/revisions?diff=split

The 'User' and 'Group' options are the most critical. The rest is hardening of the service by limiting what it can do.

I get the following error trying to install

WantedBy=multi-user.targettput: No value for $TERM and no -T specified ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package(). Aborting...

qt5-svg is a required dependency, or the "Sign in with Symless" button doesn't render :)

Yup this one works, thanks!

thanks @FredDeschenes I honestly don't know why it went back, this time I checked the PKGBUILD here on the AUR. if it still doesn't work I think ima give up on I don't actually know what I can give up on.

EDIT: I guess I gave up on spelling :|
