Hey guys, sorry for not really maintaining this package. Synergy 2 is never going to become a real product, this version is not supported anymore. Although you can of course still use it if you have the license and everything works for you. This will be the last update I will do to this package, as it is the last update.

From unofficial sources I have heard that everyone who owns a valid synergy2 license will get a valid license for the next major release.

No worries jaap, URL encoding is always a PITA and we appreciate having the package available on the AUR.

BTW your last update went back to the un-encoded URL ;)

SORRY GUYS, finding the correct url for the synergy downloads can be kinda a pain. until I just copied the url from the network tab under inspect element, until I remembered that doesn't encode the url. it should be fixed now, I tested it and it worked(although I can also remember testing the version with the + in the url :()

Created a quick patch for people that don't want to wait for the package to be fixed : https://gist.github.com/FredDeschenes/23f225d7c349be93e3317efb89e948b9

It looks like https://binaries.symless.com/* requires credentials to be passed to it?

Hey jaap, you need to encode the '+' inside the binary url.

Service needs to be started as root. Might want to adjust the unit installation to run as user.

@ignorespam I'll fix this dependency in the next update, together with a new synergy.service which should fix the "could not open display" errors

!!!!synergy 2 is officially in beta, ill update one more time, and then ill make a new package, something along the lines of synergy2-bin-beta

for any errors, bugs, and other problems with synergy go to the symless forums. for any errors in the pkgbuild, any changes I made in .install, the synergy.service on https://gist.github.com/JAicewizard/a70388a3a7c52fef21299f961a652364, or any dependency problem comment here. suggestions are welcome too of course.

I do not work for symless, cannot always update the packages immediately, I don't actually use synergy 2 on a daily basis so flagging the package is the best way to inform me of an update. old versions will still work so you (probably) won't die because of this.(if you do, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience)

PS. I finally worked out how linebreaks work :)

jaap commented on 2018-01-17 15:53 (UTC)

I will have the pkgbuild detect the display and add it to the synergy.service(https://gist.github.com/JAicewizard/a70388a3a7c52fef21299f961a652364) I myself didn't have to do anything with Xauthorety ill push to the AUR next week(I'm really buzzy, ill update official versions faster than this) "xhost +" didnt work for me, and its really insecure.

You just need to run "xhost +". Then everything should start working without the need to restart anything.
