I no longer use Arch as my daily driver distro, so I don't have much time to golf on this package. I do still actively maintain it, in that I push updates when upstream makes releases.

I more than welcome pull requests to make it more in line with Arch conventions. Please send them on https://github.com/danderson/tailscale-arch and I'll push them into AUR.

As of 1.2.1, this package builds Tailscale from source. If you'd rather use prebuilt binaries, use tailscale-bin or tailscale-unstable-bin.

Thanks hexchain! I missed the PR originally, but just merged it and pushed your changes up to AUR. The live PKGBUILD has the right things now. Thanks for fixing things!

I've opened a pull request to make the PKGBUILD adhere to the Go package guidelines as much as possible: https://github.com/danderson/tailscale-arch/pull/2

This package needs to add git to makedepends to allow it to build from source in a clean chroot because go depends on git to pull down sources.

I build all of my AUR packages in a clean chroot using aurutils, which I highly recommend for other AUR maintainers to help keep track of all make dependencies.

Thanks for maintaining this package. Please see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Go_package_guidelines#Building for some packaging tips.

Yes! 1.2.0 has the logic to embed correct version numbers, so when I push the 1.2.0 package I'll make it compile from source.

hexchain commented on 2020-10-31 23:47

Is it possible now to build this from source?

I added arm64 support to this in this patch on github

Thanks for this package! I have two requests for the install script:

I concur with minus that tailscaled should not be enabled and started automatically. This is the only Arch package I've seen, AUR or otherwise, that does that. A message that tells the user how to do this would be much better.

Additionally, the install script recommends running sudo tailscale up, but the permissions on /var/run/tailscale/tailscaled.sock seem to allow any user to do this. If that's the case, could you please remove sudo from this command?
