I had a graphical glitch as a result of this package using an older version of JavaFX. TastyTrade support confirmed that this is potentially an issue with this AUR build using an older JavaFX version. The latest deb v2.15 (as opposed to the v2.10 this points to) provides an updated version of JavaFX which might resolve the graphical problems. I flagged this package out of date and posted instructions on how to resolve.

If anyone else has issues (or just wants to ensure they are using the latest technology), you can do the following.... Download the snapshot, add the following changes to the following lines:

  • Line 5: pkgver='2.15.0'
  • Line 13: sha256sums=('742e09eaac554fef79e0ff0b26f779062c0eeff9d10715822104dc3f8e1f9415')

Then makepkg in the directory, and it will install an updated JavaFX package to hopefully help if you're seeing P&L not updating, lack of graphics refreshing, or other graphical issues.

TastyTrade support has also told me that they are focusing their efforts on the web-based platform, as JavaFX and the Desktop app is built on dead-end tech, and the web-based platform should be getting features like curve analysis and other tools "very soon".

Edit: Thank oneofone for updating this so fast!

This morning, my desktop platform crashed when using the options tab.

  1. I uninstalled the platform.
  2. Removed all my user files referring to tastyworks.
  3. Downloaded the recommended .deb file, updated the link and shasum in PKGBUILD, built it and installed it.
  4. Works fine now.

As soon as I opened it, it updated to 1.27. Apparently, it was okay doing that even though, upgrading from my original chain (from I don't know when) created a problem.

@Alkaris right now it requires that the default system JVM to be >= 11, I didn't want to hardcode a specific jvm because for example I personally use zulu and it gives a bit better performance.

Alkaris commented on 2021-01-28 17:11 (UTC)

Tastyworks doesn't appear to launch correctly because its looking for libjli.so in the wrong directory.

Cannot find libjli.so!Failed to find library. /usr/lib/jvm/default-runtime/lib/jli/libjli.so

correct directory it should point to, depending on whatever version of Java and JVM installed should be of either the following;

/usr/lib/jvm/java-11-openjdk/lib/jli/libjli.so
/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk/jre/lib/amd64/jli/libjli.so
