Please, before flag as Out-of-date perform a double check in versions. Version 1.4.00.4855 is higher than 1.3.00.30857, 1.3.00.5153 or 1.3.00.958.

If you doubt, please remember the math classes and perform a count 1, 2, 3, 4, ..., 958, 959, ..., 5152, 5153, 5154, ..., 30856, 30857, 30858, etc.

You can go to HERE, download DEB or RPM and compare versions

I've asked for help concerning the crashes/freezes of my previous comment here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/836116/microsoft-teams-150010453-64-bit-randomly-crashes.html

I've switched to teams-insiders 1.5.00.10453-1 after having used the teams flatpak for a while because of the sandbox issue.

Basically, it works but it crashes every once in a while usually while idling around on some other workspace. When I come back, I can just see that it's not there anymore. Today, it crashed at least 5 times within the last 6 hours and one time it froze, i.e., I couldn't click/select in its UI and had to kill it.

I've tried the teams AUR package as well (actually, I've used that before) and it exhibits the very same problem.

Since I've used "Teams Insiders" the very first time today (in contrast to Teams), the tip to delete ~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams - Insiders/ and start again (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/microsoft-teams-keeps-on-crashing/6e88241d-4475-4018-93af-be244f2755a7) doesn't apply here. The single log file I found (~/.config/Microsoft/Microsoft Teams - Insiders/logs/teams-insiders-startup.log only mentions an ENOENT error for a non-existing hooks.json file which seems to be harmless.

Anyone else having this issue or a hint how to gather more debugging output in order to report an issue?

With the newest update, teams starts normally again and --no-sandbox isn't needed anymore

@macdems please see the pinned comment in teams package

The Teams recently stooped starting. Please add the following correction:

In the teams-insiders script modify the line:

 nohup "$TEAMS_PATH" "$@" --disable-namespace-sandbox --disable-setuid-sandbox > "$TEAMS_LOGS/teams-startup.log" 2>&1 &

to include the new option --disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox:

 nohup "$TEAMS_PATH" "$@" --disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox --disable-namespace-sandbox --disable-setuid-sandbox > "$TEAMS_LOGS/teams-startup.log" 2>&1 &

The latest glibc update broke another layer of sandboxing in the outdated chromium engine that the Teams Preview for Linux uses. Would be nice to have more frequently updated builds ...

@Kitt3120: --no-sandbox solved my issue of Teams crashing in a loop, thanks for sharing!

Kitt3120 commented on 2022-02-21 10:57 (UTC)

A workaround is to start teams with the --no-sandbox flag. You can do this via terminal or edit the application desktop entry.

To edit the desktop entry, just open your favorite editor on /usr/share/applications/teams.desktop or teams-insiders.desktop and edit the "Exec" line in "[Desktop Entry]" to contain the argument. If you're using KDE Plasma and have teams in autostart, also edit ~/.config/autostart/teams.desktop or teams-insiders.desktop or just remove the autostart entry through GUI settings and add it again.

Also make sure to revert and test again after the teams package has been updated.

There is a new Version of teams-insiders @microsoft (teams-Insiders_1.4.00.26453_amd64.deb). Can someone please update. tx.

Some directory permissions seems to be too open compared to Arch defaults:
