It works fine for me once I replace all the natives in $wherever/bin with symlinks to the latest provided with Arch or in the AUR.

Even with vanilla Minecraft, if I don't do this then I am stuck with the black window of death.

Just as pointer, voltz mode does not work on the newer launcher you have to use the older one.

In the PKGBUILD file can you edit the 2nd md5sum and change it from
ebdbfc8e1f28c0bcf1b44403328c6932
to
cb8bbdaa003ca62458bd71618648da16

I think the source file has changed, so the hash is now different.
