tex2png is just a wrapper around "latex" and "dvi2png", which are both in the texlive-bin package.
It does not depend on Gummi (it's not even installed on my system). The gummi package depends on texlive-core, which may have updated something via the installation script. I suspect that your tex formats simply needed to be rebuilt.

This doesn't work when I install it on itself, but it works after installing Gummi. It will just print kpathsea: Running mktexfmt latex.fmt
