@simona I personally had to start from scratch with a new profile for anything 78+, and now have no problems updating past that.
I think that is one of the main reasons that it's being held back in the official repo but I could be wrong; the 68 profile would not work for me.

@simona: Yes, it does accept your old profile. Just start Thunderbird with thunderbird -p and select it.

@simona I had this as well, just go and copy the content of the "old" profile folder to the newly created one (all in ~/.thunderbird )

I opened a bug on official Arch repos. If this does not get answered soon I might test the update here in AUR...
