@hayao:

I should let users of tlpui-git know about the existence of this tlpui.

That has absolutely nothing to do with provides() and conflicts().

Does every Arch repo package have to conflict with every variation in the AUR? No. That's not how it works. Please follow package guidelines as I mentioned below.

For a couple of years, only tlpui-git was present in AUR. Now that I've created a stable release version of the tlpui package, I should let users of tlpui-git know about the existence of this tlpui.

@hayao: tlpui-git provides tlpui and conflicts with tlpui, but does not need to explicitly conflict with tlpui-git since packages providing the same feature are implicitly in conflict.

tlpui does not provide tlpui-git. If I have vanilla ice cream and you have vanilla ice cream with nuts, does my ice cream provide vanilla with nuts?

I'm adding tlpui-git to provides, but not tlpui (pkgname).

@hayao: Please see the following:

I think it's better for each package to have provides and conflicts set.

A package provides itself, there's no need for provides() and conflicts() here at all. tlpui-git already provides and conflicts with tlpui. This does NOT provide tlpui-git.
