rocapp: I think your build failure is on gstreamer, not this package. Correct?

Build failed... there's a relevant Ubuntu bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gobject-introspection/+bug/1861556

Install of openssl-1.0 necessary to fix GUI crash. Maybe add as dependency?

If the application hangs, it is probably because of a permissions problem.
Because of the content of /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/90-tomtomsports.rules, check your user belongs to the group "users". Else run:
sudo usermod -a -G users <user></user>
then change the application existing local files and folders permissions:
sudo chown -R <user>:users ~/.local/share/TomTom</user>
sudo chmod -R 770 ~/.local/share/TomTom
Then reboot and rerun tomtomsportsconnect
