@kbumsik I apologize for somehow having missed your comment in November...

Mercurial is not needed at build stage, and TortoiseHg definitely needs it at run time. Your proposal would allow removing mercurial while keeping a non-functional tortoisehg...

Could you please indicate which AUR helper causes the issue, and check again if the problem is still present 3 months later?

Thanks.

@chrisjbillington, thanks for the heads up. I just updated accordingly.

stable branch of tortoisehg now allows mercurial 4.9 (as does the latest release version)

kbumsik commented on 2018-11-14 08:10 (UTC)

@lacouture Could you put mercurial into makedepends, not depends? It causes errors in some AUR helper.

Thanks @Tharbad. It's fixed now. Now one MUST be up-to-date with mercurial>=4.7.

Got:

error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)

:: installing mercurial (4.7-1) breaks dependency 'mercurial<4.7' required by tortoisehg-hg

@lacouture Hi Patrice, that's great to hear. I've disowned the package. You can now adopt it and become the maintainer. Good luck! Thanks, Anshuman

@anshuman, I'd be glad to help on the maintenance of this package. It would be a first for me, but there must be a first time for everything. I'm lead developer in a team that relies on Mercurial and Tortoisehg for its day-to-day work, and a bunch of us are on archlinux, so it makes perfect sense for me and the team to contribute back. Updated. Thanks. Note that I do not use Mercurial as much anymore and might take me a while to get around to updating this with fixes. I'd happily pass on maintenance of this package to someone who's keen.

Please, update version in package description. After installation version becomes 4.0.2.18140 and always considered less than 4.0.18125 so yaourt always proposes to update package.
