Jubijub, your solution is to replace a hash with exactly the same thing that's already there?

EDIT: Ok, I see what you were saying. The second "search" was confusing. It appears that SegoeIcons.ttf changed from 7db24a1aafeeb65c1b79689b6883114e35f3db95a75ca1dc0a0186b178d06d8b to 3fb53de6c75d56369af4016d27a3a1551af71a2a287358e7e44e6f6c5e0badc2 with 10.0.22621.900. I think that's currently optional and won't be fully pushed until Patch Tuesday next week.

Using fonts from an up to date win 11 pro install, the sha256 in the PKGBUILD all match except one : SegoeIcons.ttf ... FAILED

I don't know how to submit a patch with AUR, so here we go :

  • search the hash of SegoeIcons.ttf in the PKG file (it's 7db24a1aafeeb65c1b79689b6883114e35f3db95a75ca1dc0a0186b178d06d8b )
  • replace that value with 3fb53de6c75d56369af4016d27a3a1551af71a2a287358e7e44e6f6c5e0badc2

(this is the line after a2efc8b8e51fbd031a7142a1ade8866fa904c0c349511abc579ee53f8a926f31
for segmdl2.ttf )

You could make an argument for splitting almost anything. If you start splitting individual fonts, it'll never end.

stasadev commented on 2022-09-21 08:36 (UTC)

I'm voting for splitting the emoji font because Segoe UI Emoji is not a complete font (it doesn't have emoji flags). I currently use NoExtract for seguiemj.ttf so I don't have to install it. It would be great if there was a sub-package.

Vaporeon commented on 2022-09-20 23:09 (UTC)

If it is really desired that I split it I can.

Vaporeon commented on 2022-09-20 23:07 (UTC)

Instead of splitting it I made the base package provide emoji-font.

May I suggest something? Create a sub-package just for Segoe UI Emoji and name it ttf-ms-win11-emoji. Also, on the provides=() array, add emoji-font. This will prevent having to install yet another emoji font (e.g. noto-fonts-emoji or ttf-joypixels) when installing programs like gnome-characters. Thank you!

I have the following installed (ttf-ms-win11-zh_cn)

/usr/share/fonts/TTF/simsun.ttc
/usr/share/fonts/TTF/simsunb.ttf

Why do I get SimSun (substitution with Noto Sans CJK SC) in okular>File>Properties>Fonts and ugly text?

Un1Gfn: See the pinned comment in regards to building using the ISO fonts. The current package version always assumes an up to date live install.

When using other font versions you have two options. 1: check out the package at a version that matches the fonts you currently have. doing this means pkgver will properly match the versions of the fonts you have. -or- 2: skip checksum verification to force the current version to build with your current font files (as you have done).

Edit: Sorry I didn't read the pinned comment carefully. Got it now. Thanks.
