@JoeBlakeB Looks like Fedora maintainers are preparing to move to jdecked's forks judging by this issue opened by the maintainer for the Fedora package and this bug on the package itself referencing the forked repo's updated version. (edit) There is also an issue on jdecked's repo requesting that .ttf files are published as well in releases, which could allow this aur package to use the repo directly rather than rely on Fedora's packaging.

@Godeps Thanks. Since this uses the fedora package for their ttf file, I will wait to see what they decide to do, but if they don't switch soon then I will make this create one using jdecked's repo.

Twitter has discontinued twemoji, suggesting this package switch to https://github.com/jdecked/twemoji

Yes, make the user aware that Twemoji is appended as default fonts. I thought it was only to create aliases for all known emoji fonts, and didn't know that it was optional to make emojis correctly displayed in applications. (I don't install multiple emoji fonts and I install this to make emojis appear. Also the noto-fonts-emoji package ships only the font file, no configuration.)

@lilydjwg if there is no configuration required should I say in the post install message that the 75-twemoji.conf file is optional and only for if you want to guarantee that twemoji is always used when you have other emojis also installed? Because I don't know what else I could do to fix that.

The config file 75-twemoji.conf makes this emoji font as default for sans, serif, etc. This causes problems on e.g. https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/D114553 in Firefox.
The page wants "Segoe UI Emoji" which is replaced by Twemoji and it has the space and digit characters! Firefox uses it and makes a lot of large empty space.
Somewhere in the rendering process (perhaps pango) the "emoji" font family will be chosen if the character being rendered is an emoji. Fontconfig will find Twemoji for this generic name. There is no configuration required.

75-twemoji.conf
should now be installed to/usr/share/fontconfig/conf.avail
, not to/etc/fonts/conf.avail

Thank you, @myriacore, but I've actually already tried all of that. None of it seemed to work.
