This link might be helpful to you, @delve. Apparently Firefox has its own internal rules that determine when it's allowed to use font config rules (e.g. Your 75-twemoji.conf). The link lists how to do that, and other known issues & workarounds with Firefox and fonts.

When this package is installed, it works wonderfully for my system as a whole, but it breaks emoji in Firefox specifically, and I can't work out why. I edited 75-twemoji.conf in the appropriate ways, and I changed the appropriate prefs in about:config, including setting font.name-list.conf to emoji, but nothing seems to work. Why is this happening, and how can I fix it?

If you need more info, I can provide it. I'd appreciate any help immensely. Thank you.

Managed to fix it. Documented details in the wiki, since it applies to all emoji fonts:

Thanks for this package!

Some emojis render as mere outlines. Maybe some other font provides these characters and have higher precedence?

This only seems to happen on alacritty. Any hints on how to debug this?

I've rarely installed anything from AUR in my 15 years of using ArchLinux. Only the onedrive client and this. Thank you for this PKGBUILD!

This works great but there seems to be an issue with the smiling face emoji? It displays as a black-and-white generic emoticon in the KDE emoji picker but turns into a Twemoji when copied and pasted
