In order to compile this now, python-gobject needs to be added at least as a makedepend.

I believe this is out of date. Upstream git repo doesn't seem to have setup.py in root anymore and using meson and ninja rather than just traditional setuptools.

Please, remove parse_log.py from PKGBUILD. It's for parsing btsnoop capture files only.

I think you're missing the python-xdg dependency here.

Also, you could separate the build and package process by using the --skip-build parameter in the package() function.

I was about to push my own tuhi-git package to AUR the other day, you can find it here for reference: https://github.com/muesli/pkgbuilds/blob/master/tuhi-git/PKGBUILD

If you don't mind giving me co-maintainer status, I'm happy to integrate my changes.
