The tunlr project has been shut down! This script will obviously NOT work anymore. I will flag this package as "out-of-date" for now...
The original message on tunlr.net:
"Tunlr Has Left The Building...
A little over two years ago we started Tunlr as a fun project. It was a steep but interesting learning curve and we've developed many ideas, skills and code snippets which we will be of use in future projects.
However, while preparing the paid plans we recognized that we had no desire to run Tunlr as a paid service. Running Tunlr as a good-quality and reliable, paid service requires more time than we're willing to devote to the cause. We didn't want Tunlr to become one of the many mediocre DNS unblocking services available on the market today. That's why we pulled the plug. None of your account data will be shared, all account data has been destroyed."

About tunlr 0.2.0
tunlr.net recently changed their API, which is the reason for version 0.2.0. I tried to implement the changes in the script and it works fine as far as I have tested it. Be however aware that the options CHECK, UPDATE, and GET will return the raw data sent by the API. This looks ugly, but I do not have time to deal with it at the moment (you can e.g. filter with sed or grep if you like...).
Also be aware that "tunlr check" returns "activated" although it is not. As said before, I do not have a lot of time to deal with this script at the moment. So if anyone here wants to take over the management of this package, I would be happy to let you do so. Or if you have improvements, thoughts or ideas, please let me know.

Note that tunlr recently changed the access system. In order to use the service you now need to create an account on https://gatekeeper.tunlr.net/. Without an account the videos will not load properly. The script still works fine, but unfortunately it seems like it is not possible to use tunlr without having an account. For more information see http://tunlr.net/.

tunlr 0.1.8
- 'tunlr start' will initiate a DNS query from tunlr.net
- /etc/tunlr/tunlr_dns has been removed from the script since it isn't needed
- new dependencies are wget, sed and grep

Thank you CafeNinja! The DNS IPs are updated now. :)

Could you please update to reflect the new IP addresses for the DNS servers? Great app!

==> about this script:
tunlr.net seems to be quite reliable; i have now used it for some weeks and everything
works just fine. nevertheless i wouldn't change my DNS IPs permanently as suggested by
tunlr.net to avoid any kind of MITM attacks, which are unlikely but still possible...
this is why i rather prefer to only change my DNS settings temporarily while using tunlr.
so while the tunlr IPs are enabled you shouldn't use any services, where you have to
login e.g. online banking. of course MITM attacks would be worst case and probably you
can trust tunlr.net... however i prefer this method :-)
for more information about tunlr please visit http://tunlr.net/
==> how it works:
- type 'tunlr start' (as root) to change your DNS IPs in /etc/resolv.conf
(to apply the changes, you have to restart your web browser)
- to restore your previous configuration type 'tunlr stop'
(again you should restart your web browser to apply the changes)
==> if you have any ideas and thoughts, feel free to comment :-)
