@akegalj, Upwork provides .deb .rpm packages. You can't to upgrade the client by pressing a button. Only hardcore!
lybin commented on 2015-12-14 20:37 (UTC)
@akegalj, now stable version is 4.0.109. Beta version continues to be 4.0.113.
You can to check: grep UPDATE_GET_VERSIONS_SUCCESS ~/.Upwork/Upwork/Logs/* | tail -n 1
If you have changed channel, you need to clean ~/.Upwork/ directory. Perhaps there is some other way to do this.

Today I got a message saying "There is a new update." with a button "Update now". If I click on "Update now" application UI gets to the same state with this terminal output:
ATTENTION: default value of option force_s3tc_enable overridden by environment.
/bin/bash: /usr/bin/gksu: No such file or directory
nohup: redirecting stderr to stdout
So I thought maybe I need gksu. But playing around with this didn't lead anywhere. How should I fix this?
*EDIT*: reinstalling aur/upwork didn't change anything so I had to fallback to aur/upwork-beta

Corrected version. If someone want, can to do a downgrade. Now, this package uses stable sources.

@agg3l, Thank you for your comment. This is mistake. This, of course, should not be. I will correct version, and I'll create a beta package.

Some note about this package is based on 'beta' build would be nice, for clearness, as for me.
Though app version is not specified at upstream anywhere, and I do understand it's annoying to maintain both stable & beta builds of 3rd-party software simultaneously
Thanks for your work anyway!

Updated.
@rkmax, I've added your command in the PKGBUILD.

Using what Iybin wrote
grep UPDATE_GET_VERSIONS_SUCCESS ~/.Upwork/Upwork/Logs/* | grep Standard | tail -n 1 | grep -o 'http://[a-zA-Z/.0-9_]*.deb' | tail -n 2
Returns me the last version
