@ginlu: correct on all counts. (Although if I remember correctly, the _texmf_root variable wasn't there for making it shorter, but because at some point there was some confusion about where it should be installed, so I put it there for making it easier to change.)

There is for sure one serious problem, line at the end starts with: rm -rf $pkgdir now imagine, what if someone have space in his build directory - you can remove some of his files without asking. You should enclose all references to src/pkgdir in quotes like rm -rf "$pkgdir" Also, the .maps file is included in source list, but isn't installed - check first 2 lines of build of example package in my previous comment. Finally, I believe that if you set _texmf_root="$pkgdir/usr/share/texmf" your "install" lines would become even shorter, because now every time you use your _texmf_root like $pkgdir/$_texmf_root/texmf

Hi there, can you please provide .maps file so the font gets automatically enabled on new TeXLive? Check https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23513 for example

There is an error in the .install file, when it calls updmap-sys, the syntax is wrong: /usr/bin/updmap-sys --quiet --enable Map ugm.map should be /usr/bin/updmap-sys --quiet --enable Map=ugm.map (the = sign is missing). This is with the newest Texlive 2011, maybe the syntax has changed.

I see that this package puts the font in /usr/share/texmf tree while all my other type1 fonts sit in /usr/share/texmf-dist. Is this intentional?

Website for the zip file has moved. Current PKGBUILD lists: source=(http://tug.ctan.org/fonts/urw/garamond.zip) Needs updated to: source=(http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/fonts/urw/garamond.zip)
