Hello! I'm been using your script for some time now, but today, as I tried to reinstall it after a python update in my Linux Manjaro, I had the following failure :

sudo ut2004-install

[sudo] password for XXXXXXX:

Enter CD Key [XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX]: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Enter your Steam username:XXXXXXXXX

Redirecting stderr to '/root/.steam/logs/stderr.txt'

-- type 'quit' to exit --

Loading Steam API...OK

"@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType" = "windows"

"@ShutdownOnFailedCommand" = "1"

I have checked that I can login (edited out on the paste), as seen bellow :

Steam>login XXXXXXXXX

Logging in user 'XXXXXXXXX' to Steam Public...OK

Waiting for user info...OK

EDIT : it worked on my fresh manjaro installation (23.0.0)

Homepage is dead, could you please update it to working one?

Thanks, that looks like it will do what I want. I've compiled it but if I run

LD_PRELOAD=/path/to/built/libSDL-1.2.so.0 ut2004

It gives the same error. I also tried copying the built libSDL-1.2.so.0 into the /opt/ut2004/System directory (replacing the existing symlink) and have the same problem: "Couldn't find matching GLX visual". I've tried with and without SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11

Edit: It works fine on Xorg with sdlcl but not on Wayland.

Is it possible to get this working on Wayland?

Currently gives the error "Couldn't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual" regardless of whether SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 is set.

This native version is better than the Wine version. The D3D renderer stutters a lot (I've no idea why, it's showing as 60fps but it just stutters every few seconds. Other, much more demanding, games are fine) and the OpenGL Windows renderer doesn't support MSAA whereas the native one does.

I made a GOG version of this: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ut2004-gog/

@lazycrypt I just bought a copy of the GOG version for this purpose. I am not sure when I will get to it as I am working on some other projects at the moment but I will see what I can do.

Yamashiro commented on 2018-06-08 12:13 (UTC)

Would it be possible to create a package using the GOG version?

For Win x64 the CD key may be located here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Unreal Technology\Installed Apps\UT2004 Damned be Valve for no longer offering any way (as far as I can tell) to get this key without installing it on Windows (or Wine).
