WARNING! This takes a long time to build, be warned. The repository size is about 13 GB. setup.sh is commented out in favor of Arch Linux dependnecies (see https://wiki.unrealengine.com/Building_On_Linux). Normally this fetches *28 GB* of dependencies. If you a have issues with the build, uncomment setup.sh If you want newer builds to not have to download this content again, do not* delete the cache folder for the build. Keep in mind this is to build the engine/client. If you wish to just use pre-made binaries, register an account at https://www.unrealengine.com/ and visit https://forums.unrealtournament.com/showthread.php?12011-Unreal-Tournament-Pre-Alpha-Playable-Build

There was no real point in the old package. You still had to manually grab the file. Folks know how to unzip it. It's not worth the effort. If folks want to compile things on a git track, they can. Otherwise, they register and grab the binaries. If you want otherwise, start another package again since you disowned the prior package. The URL changes on their zip every week or so, and updating that that often is a pain.

@ProfessorKaos64: The ut4 package was intended to provide the .desktop file and keep track of the files in the system… I don’t think merging was a good idea, but it’s done now so…

@ewtoombs: Yes indeed, you can’t use the forum login function, it doesn’t work.

I had trouble with the forum link @ArchangelGabriel posted. I had registered, but my login and password wasn't working from the forum login page. What I did to fix it was log in from the main page, http://epicgames.com/unrealtournament/, then navigate to the post from there. (Go to community, forum, Top Secret: Members Only!, Unreal Tournament Pre Alpha Playable build.)

I’m disowning this, don’t have time to play/follow dev anymore.

@electricprism: Yes, but they asked specifically to not post direct link anywhere. And no, it doesn’t totally defeat the purpose of AUR, because the PKGBUILD does other things than just getting the tarball.

Ideally, Epic would provides us with a launcher, but it doesn’t seem to be likely to happen any time soon.

Update on the way.

Is it really necessary that we download the zip file? It sort of defeats the purpose of the AUR - not only that but the application when launched presents the same login and license agreement you get via the forums.

Windows & Mac get automatic updates because they have a launcher to do updates, doing a AUR or ZIP update that requires manual download seems quaint.

The sed for the desktop file doesn’t work for me.
Instead I use:
sed -i "s@PATH@${DEST}@g" UnrealTournament4.desktop
