I had to apply this fix: https://github.com/hashicorp/vagrant-vmware-desktop/issues/91#issuecomment-1631463671 to the service file in order for the utility to work.
I am using vmware workstation 17 Pro.

Please note: vagrant-vmware-utility and vagrant-vmware-desktop are not the same thing. Please only flag this package as out-of-date when vagrant-vmware-utility is updated.

I flagged it as out of date, but I don't see where they have the tar file for 1.0.9.
