Okay, for gits and shiggles, I tried just commenting out that line and building again, since it just prints to console, and it does successfully build and install like that, so I think it's just a weird bug.
Unfort I don't have my Wii U handy (buried in a box somewhere), so IDK if vanilla-pipe is actually working correctly, but it does appear to take over my laptop's wifi and kicks me off my usual network and such, so I'd say it works, probably.

Building also fails for me too, similar to koyuawsmbrtn.
