@Auerhuhn Sorry about that, I cannot reproduce in a clean chroot, indeed, thanks for the pointer.

However, it occurs on all my computers (relatively old Arch Linux installs, most recent has ~5y). I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling java. I am not sure what's happening here...

@MayeulC I tried hard but I’ve been unable to reproduce the issue you’re reporting. That’s both in a clean chroot and without chroot on my well-worn daily driver, using Java 11, 17, or 20, respectively. (Java 19 is unsupported and no longer exists as a package.) Have you tried building in a clean chroot?

This is broken for me, I get an error in package()

Error: A JNI error has occurred, please check your installation and try again
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /usr/lib/jvm/java-19-openjdk/lib/libnio.so: /usr/lib/jvm/java-19-openjdk/lib/libnio.so: undefined symbol: reuseport_available

I tried both java-{19,11}-openjdk. This sounds a bit similar to https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/77183 and indeed, doing the exact opposite of what is suggested there works. This is a hacky workaround, not a suggestion:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/java-19-openjdk/lib/ makepkg
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/jvm/java-19-openjdk/lib/ verapdf

I have adopted the package and bumped it to the latest stable version 1.22.3.

Regarding out-of-date flagging this package: My intention is to keep this package up to date wrt. "releases" of veraPDF.

AFAIU the correct way to package development versions of veraPDF, e.g. 2.0.72 as of now, would be to create a second package verapdf-devel or so, so that users can make the qualified decision whether to install 'release' or 'development' versions.
