Why is this out of date? I don't see an updated version of the game on the HIB page?

Updated to 20130222!

Looks good, so I updated to it.

hey, I reworked your PKGBUILD. Have a look at it https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38555033/vessel-20121219-3.src.tar.gz

Btw, are you sure you need the openal dependency?

New update again. Added the improved version of smls's _get_local_source with md5sum checking. Many thanks to smls for the comments and suggestions.

Also, note that everything from || to the end of the command is only necessary if you want to specify a custom error message. If conciseness is your thing, you can also just do...

_get_local_source "${_archive}"

...or...

_get_local_source "${_archive}" --md5 "${_archive_md5}"

...and if it fails, makepkg will automatically abort and print its standard error message "A failure occurred in package()". The output generated by _get_local_source should theoretically be enough for users to understand what they need to do without further explanation.

Regarding the _get_local_source line, you need to group the error and exit commands with braces, and there needs to be a semicolon after both. The way it is in the current PKGBUILD (no braces and semicolons), the exit will never be called as it is now just a parameter to the error command, which simply ignores it.

The reason you got an "end of line" syntax error when using the braces version, is because you removed the last semicolon. A trailing semicolon is mandatory when grouping commands with braces, see the Bash reference[1].

Btw., I've just uploaded an improved version of the _get_local_source function (see the rochard-hib PKGBUILD[2]) that will also validate the checksum if it is specified as a parameter.

This should hopefully work now. I still have an issue with "package not found" when aurget is trying to install the package. But the package is build correctly.

Updated!

I knew I pulled the trigger a bit to fast uploading the PKGBUILD yesterday evening. Anyway, there is another patch anyway so I'll update it when I get home. The

_get_local_source "$pkgname-$_pkgver-bin" || { error "Unable to find the game archive"; exit 1 }

line gives me an end of line syntax error but if I remove the {}. But if I remove it then it works, e.g.

_get_local_source "$pkgname-$_pkgver-bin" || error "Unable to find the game archive"; exit 1
