Between a non-working-yet-latest-version, and a working-but-stale-version I opted for the latter. I manually downgraded to viber-21.8.0.11-1 and it is now working.
Upon executing viber from the terminal I get
the same(edit: very similar) errors as in the latest version, i.e.However the core is not being dumped.
I also get the following errors/warnings (posting it here in case it helps anyhow):

@Lenry Thanx. It is very interesting, but I will not try it, because I am actually a little bit scared of it. But thanx anyway. Maybe someone else will try it.
