Hi @bunnybooboo, VidyoDesktop broke with an update to qt a few months ago. Unfortunately Vidyo stopped supporting Vidyo Desktop on Linux a long time ago and so I doubt we will see any attempts to fix this problem. The current version (3.6.3_017) was released back in March 2016. Since it is closed source the only way that we have found to run it succesfully is by using a systemtray application.

If you run trayer (which is installed as a dependency) before running Vidyo Desktop, Vidyo works without any issues. This is unfortunate but it is an upstream issue.

@truber - what DE are you using? I work at a company with a ton of different types people use, it *seems* to work most reliably on GNOME, MATE and XFCE - but things like i3 and others have problems. (it's really all over the map, honestly - roll the dice. Not using PulseAudio causes a lot of problems) I see the SSL cert is still broken, so our package won't build cleanly when I try later -- is anyone aware of the same download in another location on their site that doesn't have the SSL cert mismatch?

There is a new version at demo.vidyo.com: 3.6.7.010. It installs and can join meetings, but hangs then crashes when trying to share my screen. It doesn't look to me like any dependencies changed (checked debian control file & ldd of binaries).

Heads up - upstream (demo.vidyo.com) has borked their SSL certificate, which is blocking curl from downloading the DEB file. I can't even get Firefox to let me bypass it with their "enhanced security" (snake oil), but Chromium will. Use Chromium, download the DEB file into the same directory as the PKGBUILD file and then run makepkg manually, it will build properly - I just tested it. If anyone has a contact at Vidyo, let them know. Please do not mark this package out of date because of this download failure, not a whole lot we can do here.

This is the specific Vidyo server component hosted by, well in my case my employer but in your link CERN. They have to make available the versions they want you to use and download on the server, it's not an automatic update - I have had to email our internal A/V team to get the hosted installers updated to the latest versions before...

I'm not so sure about that. Using the test room link provided by CERN or a link from another room host finds the download window. http://information-technology.web.cern.ch/services/fe/howto/users-test-your-setup

I fear that the Vidyo desktop application is dead. Here: http://www.vidyo.com/services-support/technical-support/software-downloads/ it is suggested to use the web based application, and the option to download the desktop client is not even available. So hoping for a new release to fix the issue seems a waste of time to me...

Another wrinkle to this problem I've found: if I start my laptop with a second monitor plugged in it will still segfault until I disable one of them.

I use 3.6.3.017 on my work Dell laptop (no external monitor) & desktop (2 external monitors) with the MATE desktop on both, it works for me in both locations as well as Vidyo ever works. I install the kitchen sink of desktop A/V library packages (gstreamer*, all the 'ugly' plugins, etc.) which *might* be somehow connected, and MATE uses PulseAudio as well. $0.02!

@joe: stimulated by your post I tried again. Nothing changed: 3.6.3.017 works fine on my laptop with an external monitor plugged and active, segfaults with no external screen (also with screen plugged but not used). I don't know what can be done to fix the issue. This thread seems to be the only place in the web where this problem is mentioned...

Is anyone able to run the current version (3.6.3.017-1) on arch? I'm using i3+ALSA and experiencing exactly what @burntsushi describes. Downgrading to 3_3_0_127 works for me, but if anyone got the latest version running, I'd be very interested.
