There is no version dependency on this package on purpose! You could read comments back from 2011 to understand why.

The file Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-7.0.6.vbox-extpack exists. However I get the same error like the other users.

I have the same error message when upgrading, which I haven't seen before.

The latest version (7.0.6-2) does not install:

The correct file name should be /usr/share/virtualbox/extensions/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-7.0.6a-155176.vbox-extpack

There is error in install script, version in install script, ${1%%-*} resolves to 7.0.6, but on FS it's 7.0.6a-155176.

Given your limited time, I've taken the liberty of generating a diff for you to fix the current checksum mismatch.

The situation here is very unclear. Anybody has issues with either of the packs or can give details on what changed. This is really screwed by Oracle.

I'm a bit curious as to why 7.0.6 and 7.0.6a-155176 are the same, but 7.0.6-155176 appears to be different. Anyone know the reason for this?

@seblu (and @eworm): I'd be happy to contribute to maintaining this package if you want some extra help. At the very least to fix the current checksum mismatch.

@HD_hirku: ^ THAT is how you constructively add to this community, not by being rude and flippant to the people donating their time (which is often in short supply) to maintain the packages that you use for free. That attitude is not welcome in communities such as this one. For your own sake, I hope you find the ability to be less entitled in the future.
