Today's update (1.11.917.35-1) gives me a segmentation fault (core dumped) on startup. I'm on Plasma. I had to downgrade.

Loailand commented on 2017-06-20 07:37

FYI, the strings command executed at the end of the package() function shows this error:

strings: '/tmp/yaourt-tmp-gbaerts/aur-vivaldi-snapshot/pkg/vivaldi-snapshot/opt/vivaldi/locales/en-US.pak': No such file

That does not stop the package to build anyway.

Swizz commented on 2016-12-07 10:15

Segfault solved by 1.6.687.3-1

blacky commented on 2016-12-07 05:20

@Swizz: Well, I’m not getting a segfault but I do have permission issues. Suddenly the following two files can only be executed by root:
```
/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-snapshot
/opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-bin
chmod a+x /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-{snapshot,bin}
```

fixed that though.

Swizz commented on 2016-12-06 09:39

Got segfault since last update.
Someone encounter the same issue ?

WiseGuy1020 commented on 2016-10-14 18:29

Can you please change pkgver to 1.5.633.16 and update the checksums?

There is no Vivaldi download link to 1.5.633.3

For the people who just want to `pacman -Syu`:

You can install it from my repo: https://repo.herecura.eu

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-09-05 18:01

@theforeigner I'm glad it's fixed :)

theforeigner commented on 2016-09-05 14:29

Issue solved - I removed vivaldi-snapshot, reset the cinnamon start menu settings to default and then installed the latest vivaldi-snapshot again.

theforeigner commented on 2016-09-03 14:51

@BlackIkeEagle Thank you for testing, it's beyond what I'd ask a maintainer to do due to the work involved of installing and running a DE.

Now that I know it's something specific on my system, I'll roll up my sleeves and start a thorough troubleshooting process.

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-09-03 08:39

@theforeigner I just tested with cinnamon and I have no issue with the link showing up in the menu. see: https://herecura.eu/files/Screenshot_20160903_103350.png

theforeigner commented on 2016-09-02 21:35

@BlackIkeEagle I'm using Cinnamon. This was an issue a few years ago with some, but not all, apps. Back then, a reboot solved it, making them reappear. I doubt what caused it back then is the same as now, as a reboot makes no difference and I've not had this issue for a long time with any app whatsoever other than just now with vivaldi-snapshot.

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-09-02 20:48

@themolco could you paste the terminal output when it can't access your profile?

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-09-02 20:47

@theforeigner could you be more specific, what desktop environment are you using. I personally had no issues with the update on i3-wm and plasma-desktop

theforeigner commented on 2016-09-02 20:39

@themolco

What you describe as being "the only" problem, is a deal breaker for me.

I don't understand the point of this change, as it renders Vivaldi unusable. It's not just something that affects us who've used Vivaldi in the past - I tried uninstalling it and making a clean install and it still won't show up in the start menu.

themolco commented on 2016-09-02 17:23

Today's fix makes the build look for the /usr/.../vivaldi-snapshot installation and link to it from /opt/.../vivaldi-snapshot with any luck this will work, but if not, you can point your shortcuts to /opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-snapshot (or wherever yours ends up). the only problem i'm having is it can't access my profile.

theforeigner commented on 2016-09-02 15:58

Todays update didn't fix it, Vivaldi disappears when installing it and I have to downgrade to get it back.

theforeigner commented on 2016-08-27 10:26

Whatever changes were made, upgrading the package made it disappear. Had to downgrade to v1.3.551.37 to get it working again.

themolco commented on 2016-08-27 03:23

latest pkgbuild moves install location, app disappears from menus/lists.

ukbeast commented on 2016-08-26 22:07

Could not find the program '/usr/bin/vivaldi-snapshot'

The binary is in opt/vivaldi-snapshot/vivaldi-snapshot

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-04-06 20:10

@alleut No, this will be the latest released snapshot, no mixing with stable and beta

alleut commented on 2016-04-06 16:41

Will you be updating snapshot package to latest stable builds when they are newer than snapshots?

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-02-27 06:39

@HeinzDo and @xircon

The issue should be resolved with

https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/commit/trunk?h=packages/pacman&id=7a6a9c18ffd8a071aa5f15724d5633c4940f5e6b

so pacman 5.0.1-2 or higher should work just fine

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2016-02-26 17:08

@HeinzDo and @xircon

Do you both have pacman 5.0.1-1 ? It looks like a regression.

HeinzDo commented on 2016-02-26 16:25

@ alleut gnome 3 here and vivaldi always asks to save password in all versions (vivaldi, beta, snapshot).

alleut commented on 2015-11-25 16:14

I use Grome 3, and the browser does not ask to save passwords anymore, but does ask in Vivaldi and Vivaldi-beta. A browser bug or some problems with Gnome Keyring or else?

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2015-11-04 08:14

When there is a new snapshot, this will be updated, I will not pull beta in here.

Jammerx2 commented on 2015-08-19 13:55

Is there a reason this is set to conflict with the vivaldi package? As far as I can tell they should work fine together.

haawda commented on 2015-07-28 16:34

What is the license of this program? If it is "custom", please provide a license file.

blacky commented on 2015-07-16 11:52

I have a hash mismatch for vivaldi-snapshot-1.0.219.51-1.x86_64.rpm
PKGBUILD expects 572e043f5f48b11908b3f8a862e8b8aa602fd957e8ff04624abafd3df39d3141 but I get 487f5764b845f7648e935307990aa959eb9bbd9f72a21b08bb7208512d5ec4a6

Re-downloading didn’t change this. Could you please check if you have the appropriate checksum in your PKGBUILD?

Vistaus commented on 2015-05-21 07:23

Since two versions ago, Vivaldi crashes when going to File --> Import data and the settings are half-broken. I was about to file an upstream bug but this bug only happens on Antergos (which is a relatively fresh install) and not on Ubuntu so I suspect it must be something else that causes this. Does anyone have any idea? (or do you need more info from me? just ask me)

BlackIkeEagle commented on 2015-05-19 06:44

Little patience please, my home router is still broken so I cannot get on the internet from the machines where I update my packages

@UserContributer, Thanks for your input but I cannot help it Vivaldi sometimes re-uploads the *deb packages with other checksums.

Try this new version and report back if there is anything failing again.

FYI, The update would not get to AUR if it wasn't building correctly for my personal repo.

You should use pacman 4.2's architecture specific source array to prevent the need to download both the x86 and x86_64 release.

I've changed PKGBUILD a bit to avoid file conflicts with vivaldi package: http://pastebin.com/W3cR0fjf

BTW there is no need to put a new sha1sum manually, use updpkgsum for that.
