Hi @envolution,
Thanks for reaching out!
I tested uninstalling vivaldi-widevine
and installing chromium-widevine
and I unexpectedly found that widevine worked exactly the same in Vivalvi. I remember I did this test in the past and it didn't work, because Vivaldi only used to look for the plugin under the /opt/google/chrome/WidevineCdm
directory. However, it looks like now it's also considering /usr/lib/chromium/WidevineCdm
as a valid path. This means, we can drop this package and use chromium-widevine
as a replacement.
On a side note, I found the LICENSE
file is added twice. It is at /usr/lib/chromium/WidevineCdm/LICENSE
and /usr/share/licenses/chromium-widevine/LICENSE
. So, I believe the former can be deleted.
@Everyone, please try replacing vivaldi-widevine
with chromium-videvine
and let us know if you notice any difference.
Regards.

If you want to test whether widevine plugin works, please check at https://bitmovin.com/demos/drm
Note: You do NOT need this package if you have Google Chrome installed.
