@StratosL , no this PKGBUILD is also used to populate the herecura repo

StratosL commented on 2019-03-22 18:56

Is there any difference between this package and the herecura repo?

vivaldi$ ./vivaldi Gkr-Message: 19:14:38.722: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files

Well I was missunderstood somehow. the sandbox issue never seemed to cause any problems... it was just printed at the console and was resolved by adding MESA_GLSL_CACHE_DISABLE=true to the enviroment. Resolved means: its not printed at the console any more.

for me, vivaldi stopped working after the last update and the error message lead to information that this is a "typical" webkit problem when gnome-keyring is missing. And really right after installing gnome-keyring, vivalid started again...

you mentioned PAM? Well I run this installation since about 7 years now, and while I stubled over PAM while reading the Wiki, I never get in touch with it. Question: What is needed with that PAM thing to get vivaldi working without the need for gnome-keyring? Could you describe a setup?

Hi,

you wrote "after updating vivaldi stopped working", not exactly what feature or features you were missing. IMO just the sandbox issue is important.

I only care about freedesktop.org and/or GTK and/or GNOME crap I need, not about unwanted features.

As you could see, I get more or less the same as you get, excepted of another freedesktop.org issue ;).

$ vivaldi-stable

No suitable library for HTML5 proprietary media (MP4[H.264/AAC]) was found,
therefore only open codecs will play.

To add support for proprietary media, issue the following command and restart
Vivaldi:

  curl https://launchpadlibrarian.net/401553574/chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra_71.0.3578.98-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb |\
  tail -c+1081 | tar xJ -C ~ --wildcards \*libffmpeg.so --xform 's,.*/,.local/lib/vivaldi/,'

[1123:1123:0216/101517.528986:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(364)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process.
[1090:1170:0216/101517.573575:ERROR:object_proxy.cc(621)] Failed to call method: org.freedesktop.Notifications.GetCapabilities: object_path= /org/freedesktop/Notifications: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Notifications was not provided by any .service files

I neither need a password, nor a notification feature, let alone proprietary codecs, the secrets issue is just randomly solved, since other apps I'm using require some keyring thingy. I wasn't aware that you were missing this feature, next time consider to provide the information what feature you need that stopped working ;), also consider to care about the "Pinned Comments" ;). OTHO to be fair, without your post I wouldn't have noticed the sandbox issue :), so comments regarding some issues are indeed a good thing.

$ MESA_GLSL_CACHE_DISABLE=true vivaldi-stable

Regards,

Ralf

PS: Just in case I installed a lot of GNOME crap, some I need other I might not need, for example gnome-keyring as well as gnome-online-accounts, but I never ever would install e.g. anything related to gvfs. Btw. the issue you experienced contains the keyword "Gkr". Just a shot in the dark, perhaps a PAM config is missing. For me vivaldi starts with or without MESA_GLSL_CACHE_DISABLE and there is no annoying dialog, but actually I don't store passwords.

schnedan commented on 2019-02-16 07:49

In fact it resolves the Sandbox issue but it does not solve the problem. Further googling reveals. That installing gnome-keyring solves the "ecret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files" Which indeed does solve it, Vivaldi starts again. But all stored passwords are vanished + a anoying password dialog at the start of the program. so there is a missing dependency at least. But I would rather opt to return to not need gnome-keyring if its optional.

Ralf_Mardorf commented on 2019-02-15 23:20

Googling and skimming the hits requires less than a minute and leads to running MESA_GLSL_CACHE_DISABLE=true vivaldi-stable to get rid of the sandbox issue.

after updating vivaldi stopped working.

I started it from console, output is: No suitable library for HTML5 proprietary media (MP4[H.264/AAC]) was found, therefore only open codecs will play.

To add support for proprietary media, issue the following command and restart Vivaldi:

curl https://launchpadlibrarian.net/401553574/chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra_71.0.3578.98-0ubuntu0.16.04.1_amd64.deb |\ tail -c+1081 | tar xJ -C ~ --wildcards *libffmpeg.so --xform 's,.*/,.local/lib/vivaldi/,'

--> need help!, or is it a bug?

Sorry, previous change to fix the .build-id folder in usr/lib I made a mistake, will be fixed in the next version

irlittz commented on 2019-02-06 11:21

cp -a {opt,usr/bin,usr/share} "$pkgdir": This attempts to overwrite the /bin symlink to /usr/bin and would probably create /share. Changing this back to cp -a {opt,usr} "$pkgdir" works. I'm not sure why you changed it, usr/lib seems to be empty anyways if you simply wanted to skip that.
