I just tested this with the current VLC 3.x in repos and it works. Just make sure to follow the steps here:

Super plugin, thanks a lot for the maintainer. Will a version be available for VLC 3 in the future?

@Ashark It says 'VLC before 2.1.0' so I don't think it'll work (there are no /etc files in the latest package). And even if it worked, 'the global file gets overwritten when/if you reinstall/upgrade VLC' (I reckon this means there is no intention to maintain backwards compatibility here and downstream packagers should always overwrite those files) so users would have to reinstall this package as well after upgrading VLC, which imho is more troublesome than just manually configuring it for once.

Here there is mentioning of /etc/vlc, but they create it manually. And I am not sure that latest version also uses it. https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Modules/http_intf/

@Ashark AFAIK VLC hasn't got any 'global configuration' for all users (at least not mentioned in https://wiki.videolan.org/Preferences/), so I'm afraid it's not possible.

Hello, thanks for packaging it. Is not it possible to automatically enable a plugin aftter installation by .install file?
