I won’t be using Arch Linux anymore so I’m disowning this.

Updated to v0.5 which should work with VLC 2.2. (And it seems to be working!)

Yeah, I don't have position restore working in 2.2 either. Is there some setting for it somewhere? I can't find anything.

Indeed the "continue playback" functionnality of VLC does not work here either.
With regards to this package, there is a bug report at http://sourceforge.net/p/vlcsrposplugin/tickets/6/ and also a message in the discussions but no answer from the developer.
I have switched to smplayer some weeks ago but its save/restore functionnality is also broken!

VLC 2.2 has native functionality for saving and restoring position, but for some reason it does not work for me.

Thanks doitian, I have adopted and updated this package.

@stqn @d1p3shn0mad thanks for the updated PKGBUILD, you can adopt this AUR now, I have just disowned it.

Looks like paste.debian.net deleted my PKGBUILD. I’ve uploaded it again on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/4id2bh7h
Compared to d1p3shn0mad’s version, mine lets you change the number of remembered files.

PKGBUILD for the latest version

I can also confirm that the solution that stqn posted works for vlc 2.1.2

Thanks. Worked for me.

Here is an updated/fixed PKGBUILD for version 0.3 that works with VLC 2.1:
http://paste.debian.net/plain/59538
I have also added the possibility in the PKGBUILD to change the number of remembered files (I like to set it to 1000 :)).

Plugin breaks VLC 2.1.0. When I try to start a video I get a segmentation fault. Uninstalling the plugin solves the problem. On the plugin website it says it should work with VLC 2.1, so perhaps something about this package is out of date?

Merging into vlc-srpos-plugin, that one has correct name and licensing.

Start VLC player;
Open preferences window (menu Tools->Preferences);
Select 'All' in 'Show settings';
Open Control interfaces panel (Interface->Control interfaces);
Check 'Save/restore position of the last played files' checkbox;
Click 'Save' button;
Restart VLC player.
