cataphract: Hm I would recommend creating a vmbuilder-bzr package but I'm unsire of using the bzr-sources from saucy.

Hmm the new version doesn't seem to work. First, it depends on debootstrap and python2-cheetah. Then there's a bunch of problems with paths to executables.

There have been no releases lately, but ubuntu has been packaging more recent revisions from bzr; see http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/ubuntu-vm-builder.
The saucy code can be downloaded from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/v/vm-builder/vm-builder_0.12.4+bzr488.orig.tar.gz
