@frat Your vr install is probably broken (or you haven't installed SteamVR driver in steam). Does SteamVR work in steam games for you?

@mamusr I tested on kde and I have a nvidia graphics card and all those options work for me. Can you email me at
dec05eba at protonmail dot com
and then I can help you better? Also what vr headset are you using? did vr-video-player work for you sometime before? what program did you try to focus with --follow-focused?
mamusr commented on 2022-10-07 04:21 (UTC)
The plane option does not work either
Like follow-focused, it says 0 joysticks are available Picks up a window id before throwing a segmentation fault
mamusr commented on 2022-10-07 04:17 (UTC)
The program starts up when issuing vr-video-player --video path/to/video.mp4, but no video appears in the headset. SteamVR just shows the next up sign.
Correction. I am on SteamVR version 1.24.6.
I'll try the plane option.
Does the follow focused option work for you? That was my goto option before the recent update.

@mamusr Is it only crash when using the --follow-focused command? do any of these two commands work?
vr-video-player --plane $(xdootool selectwindow)
(if you have xdotool installed, and then click on the window to capture).
vr-video-player --video path/to/video.mp4
(give it a path to a video file to play)

Hello @DEC05EBA,
Yes. Whirligig and Half Life Alyx test fine in Steam VR.
I use KDE as the desktop environment and its included compositor KWin.
GPU is the RTX 3080 12gb.
Thank you for the prompt reply and program!

@mamusr it seems to work fine for me. Does other steamvr programs/games work for you? What desktop environment/window manager and compositor are you using? also what gpu are you using?
