I've updated the patch and the package, in case anybody wants to give this a try, but I think it should be removed.

OK. I took the time to investigate the patches, and they are not needed. One patch is already merged in vte upstream, tilix just needs to update the code to use the new name. The other patch Add terminal-screen-changed signal doesn't seem to be very important, I rebased it on top of the latest release and it compiles, but I've no idea how to run it.

I created a ticket in tilix: Update and clarify experimental/vte so they could clarify, but so far no response.

And the Fedora patches are in vte3-notification anyway.

I think this package can be safely removed.

@felipec: If you're a programmer, then maybe you can dig in and remind us what this package is for and why we still need it.

Like I said, I think this is long dead and forgotten. However, if you want to revive it, go for it.

I'm a programmer, I can make the patches work.

@felipec: No one has been able to use this package in about 2 years because the patches no longer work. There's nothing to maintain, don't worry about it. Tilix doesn't see much development anymore, anyway. I still use Tilix, but don't even remember what the point of this was anymore.

I might be willing to adopt this package and port the patches, but not necessarily all of them.

What is the primary reason people use this package?

billypilgrim commented on 2019-10-16 15:51 (UTC)

There don't seem to be patches available for the latest version of vte (or for the last few versions for that matter). I don't particularly want to have to hack things myself to get them to work, so I'm disowning this package in case someone else wants to.

Hi community. I'm sorry to say that I'm not having enough time to maintain this and other AUR packages anymore. I'm disowning this in hopes that someone else will give it the love it deserves. Cya!

Any plans to update to 0.54.3? Is it even possible with the patches?

@dsboger it looks like there is a patch available for 0.52 now @
