Attention: It requires SSE3!

There is also waterfox-g-kpe package with LTO+PGO and SSE2 support and langpacks on my repository on OBS.

Source files at: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox/waterfox-g-kpe.

[home_hawkeye116477_waterfox_Arch]
Server = https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/hawkeye116477:/waterfox/Arch/$arch

If you got 404, then temporarily try to replace download.opensuse.org with downloadcontent.opensuse.org. That should enforce direct download without mirror.

key=$(curl -fsSL https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:hawkeye116477:waterfox/Arch/$(uname -m)/home_hawkeye116477_waterfox_Arch.key)
fingerprint=$(gpg --quiet --with-colons --import-options show-only --import --fingerprint <<< "${key}" | awk -F: '$1 == "fpr" { print $10 }')

pacman-key --init
pacman-key --add - <<< "${key}"
pacman-key --lsign-key "${fingerprint}"

Is this just an up-to-date version of waterfox-bin? If so, this needs to be deleted and the other package flagged out-of-date.

Hi @aquasp,

Of course. I missed that release since there's no blog entry about it.

I opted to change the name to waterfox-current to reflect the new WM_CLASS string, as well as the terminology on waterfox.net. Note that this update will require a new profile, and that it does not (currently) replace waterfox-alpha (I will ask for this package to be merged with the "current" one).

You may find it here: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/waterfox-current-bin/

Cheers

Hello @simokron

Can you please update this package to 68.0b1 ?

Thanks!

aquasp commented on 2019-08-16 15:29 (UTC)

It's working fine now. Thanks!

Stunts commented on 2019-08-15 12:55 (UTC)

@simokron, thank you, it's fixed now!

vcekron commented on 2019-08-15 09:44 (UTC)

Hi @Stunts,

Thanks for the correction. Let me know if it's still busted in rel. 4.

Hi @aquasp and @simokron: The line in waterfox-alpha.desktop should actually read:

Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/waterfox-alpha-icon.png

At least the issue is fixed in my case when I add the extension.

Hi @aquasp,

Thanks for the heads-up! Please let me know if the latest release does not fix the issue, and I will look into it in more detail.

Cheers, simokron

Hi

Thanks for creating a pkgbuild of the waterfox alpha!

It is working fine excpet for the icon of waterfox alpha. But there is no problem, to fix I just changed: the line "Icon" in waterfox alpha to "Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/waterfox-alpha-icon"

I would appreciate if you can update. The new .desktop Thanks!

There are several noteworthy things about the first alpha release of Waterfox 68, as it is very much in active development.

To start with, there are a number of known issues, such as (see GitHub for a complete list):
about:preferences#sync does not load - you can still set-up an account using the selector next to the Awesome Bar;
about:config does not load - use chrome://global/content/config.xul instead;
the profile directory is located in ~/.mozilla/waterfox/.

Furthermore, WF 68 retains some support for legacy add-ons, whilst some will need updating. A partial list of popular legacy add-ons that have been updated is available on GitHub. A notable omission in that list is VimFX, which has been updated as well - c.f. GitHub.

As for the AUR package itself, the PKGBUILD and .desktop files are based on the waterfox-bin ones.

I do not use the desktop entry myself, so please let me know if e.g. the icon is incorrect. This goes for any other potential mistakes as well, of course!
