Thanks for detailed bug report.
Problem was caused by folder name changes in git from wesnoth to wesnoth-old. Now it is fixed.

My tarball extracted as ~/..../wesnoth-git. Then I did :
cd wesnoth-git
sudo makepkg -csi --asroot
Then it gave the output I have linked to. Please help.

enable x86_64 in the PKGBUILD.Compiles fine here.
