I had the same problem on my system. It seems that the old way of calling initex doesn't work anymore with new revisions of texlive. I temporarily bypassed the issue by creating a custom bash function for initex.
It now compiles again on my computer.

I'm having trouble building this. I don't know if it's related to the empty field, shown as " FORMAT is `' ".
I tried fiddling a bit with the downloaded files in the package yaourt-tmp folder to no avail, but I wasn't so sure
what else could I do besides putting FORMAT = latex...

Makefile.config was still build but is probably incorrect.

Added x86_64 flag. It should work, but I cannot be sure, as I don't have a 64 bits system.
