Hmmm. It worked OK for me, but you're right, the $srcdir/ method is best. I've updated it, hopefully it works now?

Patches never get applied. Using ../python3.patch and ../timeout.patch fixes things. Or you could use "$srcdir"/patch.patch format, safest bet I guess.
