Ah and makepkg will grab the game sources for you. By source I meant the package source. Two different things.

Use cower which does the ugly handwork for you.

I apologize for the confusion. Downloading the sources manually worked, although it was nice when makepkg grabbed them for me. I'll do it manually from now on for best results.

Downloading only the PKGBUILD is wrong, you should always download the whole source https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/wo/worldofpadman/worldofpadman.tar.gz and uncompress it. Then you can makepkg.

So it is as well with this package :)

Reading now. Thanks. Sorry, I wasn't trying to sound freaked out, its just that I successfully built a couple packages already, suddenly this one is giving me that error. I naturally assumed it was a problem on your end. Because the only thing I needed with the other packages with the PKGBUILD file. Everything else was downloaded automatically during makepkg.

I give up, sorry. Calm down, I was trying to help. You should read this thoroughly: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR#Acquire_build_files

So I have to download the sources manually with this PKGBUILD? I didn't have to with the other packages. And why is the desktop file listed separately in the sources if its part of the source tarball? And am I supposed to have a source repo for AUR that includes these files? How come I can build komodo-edit without downloading any sources, but padman fails?

SanskritFritz commented on 2013-08-24 13:19 (UTC)

The desktop file is part of the AUR source tarball I just rechecked it. Maybe you should download it again.

What do they have to do with the desktop file clearly inaccessible on this page? You need to add the file correctly or nobody can even download it manually.
