But the opposite is happening.

pacman wants to:

  • uninstall wxwidgets-common-light (because it provides wxgtk-common), and install wxwidgets-common (which replaces wxgtk-common)
  • uninstall wxwidgets-gtk3-lite (which provides wxgtk3), and install wxwidgets-gtk3 (which replaces wxgtk3)

wxgtk-common and wxgtk3 are legacy names. That's why repo packages want to force them out. Unless you remove these unneeded legacy provides.

em. thats the intend to work, replace wxwidgets-common with wxwidgets-common-light, same with gtk and qt5 variants

MarsSeed commented on 2023-06-14 18:30 (UTC)

The qt5 package still should have conflicts=('wxwidgets-qt5').

The gtk3 package should not provide wxgtk3, otherwise the problem I mentioned persists.

Same for the common package: should not provide wxgtk-common, otherwise pacman wants to replace wxwidgets-common-light with wxwidgets-common.

Same recommendation for dropping wxgtk-common from provides, as repo's wxwidgets-common has a replaces field for that.

MarsSeed commented on 2023-06-14 16:57 (UTC)

This package should not have a replaces field; it shouldn't be used on AUR (and is generally ignored by AUR helpers).

Also I think this package should stop providing wxgtk3.

It causes pacman to always want to replace it with repo wxwidgets-gtk3,

due to the latter's replaces field (which is very much taken into account by pacman and all its AUR helper wrappers).

Can confirm that Wired is correct. destdir.patch is not available.
