Ver 2.0 re;eased. • now working on any X desktop environment (gnome, kde, xfce, lxde,…) • implemented optional system tray docking and menu (it’s also possible to have x-tile start in the system tray) Doesn't use Gnomeapplt at all any more, seems to work 'out of the box' on Gnome + XFCE for me.

Nice work, thanks!

Sorry about that, I missed off python2-gconf dep which pulls in pygtk and gconf, neither of which are strictly 'just gnome' pkgs. PKGBUILD updated. Nothing is installed in /usr/local I don't know how you've got that. My pkg has /usr/{bin,lib,share} dirs.

Would be very nice to get rid totally out of Gnome, but running x-tile: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/x-tile-ng", line 30, in <module> import gtk, gconf ImportError: No module named gconf And second thing is - why do you intall it in /usr/local ?

Ver 1.9 out, I've got this working now using the 'gnome free' script (x-tile-ng) and a little bash wrapper to make starting it easier. Not ideal I know but it's all I could come up with. Everything __should__ still work as before, if it doesn't let me know and I'll _try_ and sort it. 'gnome-python-desktop' dep has been removed and this x-tile pkg doesn't need any Gnome deps any more so you might be able to ditch a few pkgs (especially if your not using the gnome DE). I've was able to get rid of 22 pkgs/77 MB but I'm now using XFCE4 mainly so YMMV

Hm. Ok, i was afraid that this is due gnome3. I moved also to xfwm4-tiling but i want some more tiling than 50/50-tile. I'm not a PKGBUILD-Guru but before you drop the pkg i would take it over and try my very best ;)

gnomeapplet has been dropped because it's not compatible with gnome-panel 3, I'm waiting to see if they fix it in a new ver, but I've pretty much moved over to xfce now cos I'm not liking gnome3. If you wanna take this over let me know and I'll disown it.

Line 16 of the PKGBUILD should be: cd "$srcdir/$pkgname"-"$pkgver" But wait a bit with fixing, they'll bump a new version these days. Any hints about this? Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/x-tile", line 30, in <module> import gtk, gnomeapplet, gobject, gconf ImportError: No module named gnomeapplet
