Mail.ru service is evil... It place all mail to spam. Sorry for delay: I did not listen discuss...
@m45t3r I will try to test with XFCE + chromium in near future and provide fix or solution.

I've made a github repo at https://github.com/matthewbauer/xdg-utils-ng

This version (1.1rc1) stopped working with Chromium+Xfce 4.8 (when you click to open a downloaded file, it opens Firefox instead the program it should open). It appears that this version can't detect the new version of exo, the same thing happens on upstream.

@hatred you mean on "Prefered Aplications"? Already did that, but it still didn't work since Chromium uses xdg-open directly when you try to open a downloaded file (and on Xfce 4.8 the xdg-open didn't identify the exo-open correctly anymore).
Yeah, it would be great to create a real project using this patches. But I am not a programmer (yet), so I can't really help (or there is something I can do even with I don't really know how to write good code? If so, I can help with something).

m45t3r: In XFCE you can manualy write browser in settings dialog...
Also, updated, make a lot of changes, so please see ChangeLog and test.

Can't use Chromium on Xfce 4.8 without this one. You saved my day.
+1 to want this package as default or community.

You are welcome :-)

Thank you very much, this is saving quite some work for me. I was about to hack some workaround myself. The stock xdg-utils is unbearably retarded, this package really should become the default or at least be in community!

Thanks :-)

This is a great patch. It probably should be accepted to the community repo.
