Someone beat me to it:

http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-server/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23028

An ImageMagick developer confirmed the bug and promised a fix for today (March
24th). I hope the fix will hit the arch repos soon.

Hi Snark1994,

first off: Sorry for missing your hint as to the "incorrect" string. I will fix
this soon. Thanks for the hint!

Then:

WOW! I absolutely confirm your findings as to "display"'s behaviour. This must
be a serious bug in ImageMagick. Good that you told me, as I usually don't have
ImageMagick installed and thus don't see problems with the package.

I'll see if I can reach an ImageMagick developer via IRC, otherwise I'll have to
open a bug. I wonder if I should change xdm-arch-theme's behaviour in the
meantime so that it doesn't try to use ImageMagick. Better to have to background
than to have a background but not being able to log in and getting your system
killed...

Cheers!

The recent upgrade of imagemagick (6.8.2.3-1 -> 6.8.3.10-1, happened for me on 2013-03-20) broke the package - the username/password fields don't display, and memory usage increases rapidly until everything crashes.

If you remove the "imagemagick" option in Xsetup then everything works fine (tested with qiv and feh).

[kudos to RGoose for working out what the problem was]

Oh, another thing - if you get the password wrong, then "incorrect" doesn't display correctly (it's cut off at the bottom).

Changing

xlogin.Login.height: 150

to

xlogin.Login.height: 170

seems to fix the problem.

Thanks for a great theme, anyway!

Hi Snark1994,

thanks for reminding me! I did the modification locally quite some time ago and
forgot to upload it.

Kind regards

The "halt" button leaves the power on, just shuts down the OS. Also, given we've changed to systemctl, it might be better to have:

cdprincipe,

it's there in the optdepends, either of which will display the background image.
I know, it's not a perfect solution, but afaik, there's no way to say "one of
these must be installed" in a PKGBUILD and having them all as dependencies would
be completely stupid.

Some people just don't have imagemagick installed and requiring such a huge
package to display a background isn't my style.

Sorry for the inconvenience :(

Put imagemagick in dependcies: without don't render the image
